2023: A Year of Love, Success, and New Beginnings

Does it sound a bit cliché when I say that I’m attempting to write this article in my flat in Sydney while listening to “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King?

I’ve thought long and hard about this new year, but I felt like I have no idea what to do or what to even write about it. This is rare because if you knew me personally then you’ll know how much of a “planner” I am. I live by my schedule, love making lists, and crossing off goals in my journal.

However, this year seems different — but still great nonetheless.

This new year was welcomed in a completely new city by someone I love by my side. We watched the fireworks as we looked over the Harbour Bridge here in Sydney, ate sushi while waiting, and cuddled like there was no tomorrow. It was amazing, to say the least.

(Oh great, my playlist now shuffled to Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love.”)

I guess I wanted to point out that 2023 was not started like how I usually start my years. Instead of panicking that I might’ve thrown off the balance of this year, I will choose to welcome this with positivity.

There are so many things that I want to do this year, but I’m also aiming to take more rests whenever it’s necessary.

Usually, I won’t take rests unless I’m physically or mentally burnt out — I know, it’s wrong. This is why I’m trying to pause more; I want to be more present and more mindful in 2023.

I also want to do better when it comes to my business. 2023 is the year that Following Paraluman Creatives will see abundance; I claim it in Jesus’ name. There are so many things that I’m looking forward to this year, business-wise, especially since I did make my first million (in PHP) in 2022. Although it can be daunting to top that sometimes, don’t you think so?

I told my bub that thought over breakfast. I said, “I’m scared that everything will go away.”

He gave me the reassurance I needed and said, “It’s normal to be scared, but that’s also why we have to work hard.”

If there’s one thing I can tell you, it’s this: feelings are great and you’re allowed to feel as much as you can. However, don’t let it overwhelm you, and don’t let feelings be the basis of every decision you’ll make in life. While it’s such a great privilege to feel things, it can also be some people’s downfall — remember that. So take everything with a grain of salt.

As we all embark on this new year, I do hope and pray that we all find love, success, and new beginnings.

As for me, I’m working towards these things. I’m so blessed to have an amazing support system around me in the form of my family, my friends, my bub, my colleagues, and my new-found friends here in Australia.

So many things are in the works, and I do want to achieve greater heights in 2023. While there might be setbacks every once in a while, I won’t let them hinder me and I won’t let my motivation fade.

After all, I believe that things can only get better.

No matter what your goals are this 2023, be sure to go through them with passion, love, and gratitude. We’ve got so many things to be thankful for, and seeing another year is one of them.

I do hope I reach the goals I’ve set for myself this year — I hope you do too.

So let’s move through this year one day at a time, shall we?

(For the last time, I’m listening to Elton John’s “Your Song.”)
